3 Myths About Facebook Advertising
by Josh Amidon
Want to make me mad? You can say that Betty White isn’t the best comedic actress of all-time, you could use the phrase “awesome sauce”, you could be that woman at Costco who took the last 4 free samples of chicken nuggets or you can believe one the following 3 myths about Facebook advertising.
Facebook Ads Are Too Much Money. Well, if you don’t have a plan or do them right, of course they’re expensive. You might as well throw money off a bridge. But in reality, Facebook Ads are quite affordable for any price point - a few cents per impression. If you’re paying more than that, you’re on that bridge again dumping money over the side.
“Boosting” and Facebook Advertising are the same thing. This one makes me cringe. The world of Facebook Advertising goes way deeper than just boosting a post. Boosting a post is telling Facebook that you’re looking for more likes, engagements and comments on that one post – if that’s your goal….fanfreakingtastic! But don’t hope that boosting a post is going to drive hits to your website and/or sales.
My company is B2B – so Facebook ain’t for me. Ahhhhh! Seriously? You can target almost anyone on Facebook! You can target small business owners too! Granted, the approach is different and you need to be insanely careful about how you target, but it’s 100% doable.
Social media advertising is confusing and complicated – if you don’t know what you’re doing, it can be a huge waste of time and money. Hiring something to show you the ropes might be the best option. And that someone should be someone who thinks Betty White is the best comedic actress of all-time – just sayin’.
